Good to think about

Thinking about what you’d like to leave behind after you have passed away is quite a difficult and confrontational subject. However, thinking about this now can save you and those you love a lot of stress later on. The knowledge that all has been pre-determined, can give you a great peace of mind. And you might also want to leave something to one or more charitable causes. You can include these charities in advance in your will ..

Two options for your will

There are two options to include a charitable institution in your will: as an heir or as a legatee. Charitable institutions with an ANBI-status, which the Sri Lanka Orphanage Foundation has, pay no inheritance tax over legacies and inheritances. Your donations will benefit our cause for the full 100%.

Legate as co-heir

You can include Sri Lanka Orphanage Foundation as co-heir in your will. We will then receive a in percentage of your legacy as has been pre-determined by you.

Legate as legatee

If you wish to include Sri Lanka Orphanage Foundation in your will, but not as a co-heir, you can include a legacy. Within the legacy you can determine if you wish to legate a specific amount and/or goods to us.

What will your money be used for?

If you wish to include the Sri Lanka Orphanage Foundation in your will, we suggest making meeting with you in order to discuss how we can spend your legacy or inheritance in the future.

Tip

A will has to be made by your own solicitor. If you already have a will, you can inform your solicitor that you would like to include the Sri Lanka Orphanage Foundation in your will. It is good to know that the solicitor only records your wishes; at the time of your death, he or she isn’t involved in the implementation of your will. Therefore, it is advisable to also designate an executor of your will; someone who will take care of the implementation of your will.
