As a mother of a 14-year-old daughter I sympathise with the children of the Somawathi Home. In my opinion it is very important that the children get a decent education so they can build on their future. For that particular reason, I donate 25 euro monthly.

This is the fourth year we are consulting and advising ‘Sri Lanka Orphanage Foundation’ in their communication strategy. We advise on the website, the advertisements, social media, the annual report and the promotion of the foundation. We feel that we can contribute best here and in this way we are part of the success.
Action at Albert Heijn
At six shops of Albert Heijn a donation point was opened so customers could donate their recycling refund receipt. AH shop manager Ad Mathijssen asked students from a technical school to produce the wooden boxes customers could put their refund receipts in. In 2013 customers donated € 9,460 in total.

The Sri Lanka Orphanage Foundation really impressed us back in their foundation years and we decided to support were we could. After all those years it shows that some great work has been done, and will be done, that’s why we keep supporting.

I have been involved as a registrar, writing the articles, when the foundation was founded back in 2005. Since then I have passed many donations and I really empathise with the foundations work. There the foundation need registrars support, my team and I advise free of charge.

During my stay in Sri Lanka I visited the Somawathi Home. Because I am a film producer I wanted to document this special project and surprise the foundation in the Netherlands. The result is a very beautiful impression of the life in the Somawathi home, I am really happy I could contribute.

By offering education, the possibility to sport and spend leisure time together the children will be able to build their future and life together. The help, love and support they get in the Somawathi Holland House of Hope is essential for rebuilding their self-esteem. It is also vital to be able to trust the future again, in which they will be able to help others in return. Debora Makkus - COR Foundation
The COR foundation has been supporting ‘Sri Lanka Orphanage Foundation’ for quite some time. We are very grateful that we were able to do this again for a significant amount. About 30 children, from the age of 15, participated for 24 weeks in a weekend course, at the Technical College in Galle. Carpeting, electronics and mechanics, brick laying and the basics for plumbing were all part of the curriculum. With this basic knowledge, in specific fields, the young adults are better equipped to specialise and sustain themselves in future.

I would like to congratulate Sri Lanka Orphanage Foundation with the many milestones they have reached. I hope I can enjoy many more of your great happenings; swimming certificates, teenagers that flee the nest, ministers and musical stars travelling to the foundation and the great charity concerts so the foundation can shine in the media. The project truly deserves it, as well as the people that have been supporting it for almost 10 years. From the moment we shoot our first documentary, and I was standing there in the middle of the children in their brand new beds, I felt that this would be so much more than another orphan house, another charity project.
