Spread the word

Help us to make our dream come truelogo-somawathi niwasa

To make our dream come true, it is extremely important that as many people as possible know what we stand for and how we give 104 orphaned and abandoned children in the Somawathi Home a loving home and a secure future. You too can help us to spread our message: spread the word and help us this way to raise every year enough money to secure the future of our children.

We love to tell as many people as possible about our work for the 104 orphaned and abandoned children in the Somawathi Home in Sri Lanka. That is the way to bring our work to the attention of a large audience.

And you can help!

And you can help us! There are all kinds of ways for you to do that.

  • Follow us on Facebook, Twitter, YouTube and Instagram.
  • The easiest: look up and like our Facebook page and invite all your friends to do the same.
  • We greatly appreciate it if you like our posts on Facebook and even better: If you also share the posts (with your own comment). Facebook ‘ rewards ‘ us for this, by ensuring that more friends can read our messages on their timeline!
  • You can show your friends your commitment to our Foundation on Facebook by posting this small icon on your own timeline. You can also integrate into in your email signature.
  • Share our TV-spot: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UGIcDxXjQDs. You can do this on Facebook and other social media, but it is also possible to simply paste the link in an email and send to people you feel committed to the future of our children. You can do the same with our pictures and movies.
  • If you care for our Foundation, talk about it on birthdays or other social gatherings with family, friends and acquaintances. Certainly there are more people like you who are concerned about the fate and the future of our children. Maybe they like to help us too.
  • The ideal spot to bring our orphanage to the attention: at school (or in the classroom) of your child (ren), grandchild (dren), nephew(s), niece(s), neighbour boy or girl. Inspire the teachers to give attention in class to the Somawathi Home. Maybe the school and the pupils would like to organize a fundraising event for our foundation as well.
  • Do you have friends who are a member of a service club such as the Lions, Soroptimists or Rotary or are you yourself active in the field? It is the ideal place to give a presentation including a movie or a power point presentation to spread our message.
  • Journalists with specific questions, we always like to speak to and inform personally and with great pleasure. Would you like to interview someone about Sri Lanka Orphanage Foundation, are you looking for specific images or would you like to know anything else? Please contact Marja van Leeuwen via info@weeshuissrilanka.nl. She will answer your question immediately or will give you a ring.

Need for inspiration?

Perhaps you are wondering, what am I going to tell” my people”? Of course you will find on our brand new website a lot of stories and information but if you still need more inspiration, buy or download the book ‘An orphanage in Sri Lanka ‘ by Marja van Leeuwen. In a gripping and compelling report she tells how she has achieved her goal. Joy, sorrow, adversity and prosperity crossed her path. Finally she managed together with over three hundred volunteers, more than two million euros in donations, eleven containers relief supplies and a lot of support from business and friendly relations to realize the Somawathi Home Holland House of Hope in Sri Lanka. A very inspiring story. The proceeds from the book benefit Sri Lanka Orphanage Foundation.
